Belly Dance Classes
with Najla 2009
Learn the beautiful ancient art of belly dancing with an
experienced professional instructor and performer. Belly
dancing improves muscle control and flexibility, and promotes
positive self image for women of all ages, backgrounds, and
body types. New classes with Najla are forming at the Ballard
Health Center,
located at 1138 NW Market Street.

An elegant, passionate and talented soloist, Najla is the director
of Fleurs D’Egypte Dance Company and the student
performance troupe Sahara Sirens. Fleurs d’Egypte is Seattle’s
tour de force all professional cabaret troupe which performs to
sold out audiences throughout the Northwest, and received 1st
Runner Up at the International Belly Dance Convention 2007 in
Las Vegas. Najla has performed all over the world including
Egypt and Greece.
She was selected at the Paris 2005 auditions
to become part of the world famous Bellydance Superstars

Najla teaches classical Egyptian and modern belly dance
technique. Beginner classes focus on basic
hip movements,
shimmies, isolations, travel steps, arms, veil, and posture.
Continuing classes learn shimmy layering, advanced combinations,
choreography, finger cymbals, and techniques for improvisation.
Private lessons are also available.
Students should wear
comfortable clothing which is tight around the knees and allows
the instructor to see the movements of the hips and stomach.
Hip scarves are not provided.

NEW!! Tuesdays 8:00-9:00: Beginning Belly
Dance
(8 week series begins 1/08/09)
No experience necessary. Register now and receive one free
class when you purchase a class card! Class cards are $90 for
7 classes ($13 per class, 1st class free). Drop-ins for the 1st
class only are $15.
Thursdays 7:30-8:30:
Intermediate/advanced Belly Dance
(ongoing class begins 1/03/09)
This class will continue learning intermediate/advanced Egyptian
choreography and technique, and finger cymbals. Class
cards (5 classes) are $65 ($13 per class)
and drop-ins are $15. Class cards expire after 6 months.
NEW!! Thursdays 8:30-9pm: SaharaSirens Troupe class
(ongoing class begins 1/03/09)
The Sahara Sirens perform at Costa’s Opa restaurant,
the
Mediterranean Fantasy Festival, and other local venues and
festivals. New members are now being accepted. Cost is a $25
flat fee per month to cover studio rental costs. Attendance of
the intermediate/advanced class is required. Private lessons
are available for $35/hr for students who would like to learn
past choreographies.
