WEEKLY bellydance classes starting April 15
Wednesday nights from 8-9pm I will be teaching a blended
Salimpour technique class. We’ll be using Suhaila Salimpour’s
movement technique to explore her mother Jamila Salimpour’s
vocabulary format. Jamila codified and taught the movements
she and other dancers were using in the Arabic nightclubs of
San Francisco in the 50s and 60s. This vocabulary was spread
throughout the US by Jamila’s many students, and if you’ve
taken a bellydance class in the US in the last 30 years,
chances are you’ve learned parts of Jamila’s vocabulary! This
vocabulary also provided the foundational movements of American
Tribal tyle bellydance. As such, this class is recommended for
cabaret, tribal, and fusion dancers, and especially for those
who interested in the history of bellydance in the United
States. All levels welcome.
Finger cymbal instruction included.
Classes begin Wednesday, April 15.

Starting this April, MONTHLY drill workshops in the Suhaila
Salimpour bellydance format.
Dates:
Saturday, April 18, 1:30 – 3:30pm**
Sunday, May 17, 1-3pm
Sunday, June 28 1-3pm
Workshops will include conditioning and technique drills. This 2
hour workshop format will allow us to really dig in and work!
Come prepared to sweat!! All levels welcome.
