The Red Tent beckons you join the Eastside’s only all improv American Tribal Style (ATS). This is an earthy fusion of belly dance blended with the native dances of the Middle East, Africa, Spain, Mexico and India. This grounded group dance is a beautiful way to lift the soul and tone the body while developing grace, flexibility, strength and most of all, confidence. No experience necessary. Open to all shapes sizes, ages and fitness levels.
Fran Maas has been a student of dance for over three decades in styles that include jazz, tap, Ballet Folklorico, Irish step, African and of course belly dance. After studying Cabaret for 3 years, in 2000 Fran attended the Fat Chance belly dance intensive workshops where she fell in love with ATS. The fluid grace and inner consecutiveness of group improv resonated deep within her and she has never looked back. With a patient hand and sassy style Fran is able to cultivate confident and skilled students, even those who consider themselves movement and rhythmically challenged.
Fran is also the director of The Red Tent and the award winning student troupe Daughters of Dinah.
